Terms of Service
Effective 1 July 2025 · Last updated 10 June 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and UHH Management Services Pty Ltd trading as TaxMate, ABN 62 671 067 235 ("TaxMate", "we", "us", "our"), governing your access to and use of the website at taxmateai.com.au and any related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or paying for a subscription, you confirm you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Eligibility
You may use the Service only if you are 18 years or older, an Australian tax resident or otherwise required to lodge an Australian tax return, and capable of forming a binding contract under Australian law. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements.
2. What TaxMate is — and is not
TaxMate is a software tool that helps Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) employees identify potential work-related tax deductions from their bank transactions using artificial intelligence. The Service may include AI-generated observations, suggested deduction categories, an AI chat assistant, and printable worksheets to support your own tax return.
TaxMate is not a registered tax agent under the Tax Agent Services Act 2009 (Cth). We do not provide tax advice, legal advice or financial product advice. We do not prepare or lodge tax returns on your behalf. Where the Service generates suggestions or responds to questions (including via the AI chat assistant), this content is general technology-assisted information only — not personal advice taking into account your particular circumstances, and you should not rely on it as such. Before claiming any deduction you must verify your eligibility against current ATO guidance or consult a registered tax agent. You remain solely responsible for the accuracy, completeness and lodgment of your tax return.
3. Accounts
You must create an account to use the Service. You agree to provide accurate, current and complete information, keep your login credentials confidential, and notify us promptly of any unauthorised use of your account. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
4. Subscription, pricing and billing
- TaxMate Pro is sold as an annual subscription. The current price is shown on the /pricing page and may be subject to promotional codes or referral discounts.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each annual period at the then-current renewal price unless cancelled before the renewal date.
- All payments are processed by Stripe Payments Australia Pty Ltd. We do not store your full card details on our servers.
- Prices include any applicable GST.
- You may cancel your subscription at any time from your profile page or by emailing support. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
5. Refunds and Australian Consumer Law
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). For major failures with the Service, you are entitled to cancel and receive a refund. For other failures, you are entitled to have the service rectified.
Outside the ACL guarantees, we offer a 14-day money-back guarantee from the date of your first paid subscription. To request a refund, email support@taxmateai.com.aufrom the email address on your account.
6. Referral programme
Our referral programme allows existing subscribers to share a personal link. New users who sign up via that link and pay for an annual subscription receive a discounted first year. The referring user receives a credit applied to their next renewal once three (3) referred users have successfully paid. We may modify or end the referral programme at any time, in which case existing earned credits will be honoured.
7. Bank data and AI processing
Where you choose to connect your bank, you authorise our integration partner Basiq to retrieve read-only transaction data on your behalf. We cannot move, transfer or transact on your accounts. Where you choose to upload a bank statement, the original file is held in memory only during processing and is then deleted; the extracted transactions are stored in your account. Transaction descriptions and metadata may be sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) for deduction analysis. See our Privacy Policy for more.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- misuse the Service, attempt to access other users' data, or reverse-engineer the Service;
- use the Service to commit fraud, evade tax, or lodge knowingly false claims;
- upload content that is not your own, infringes copyright, or contains malware;
- use automated means to scrape or interact with the Service.
9. Intellectual property
We own all rights in the Service, including its software, design, branding and reports. Your transaction data, deduction selections, and the contents of your tax reports belong to you. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for the purpose of preparing your personal Australian income tax affairs.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law (subject always to the ACL guarantees), we do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate, or that AI-generated suggestions will result in any particular tax outcome.
You acknowledge and agree that the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) is the sole authority on what may be claimed. You are responsible for substantiating every deduction you claim with receipts, diaries, logbooks and other records required by ATO rules.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will TaxMate be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for any ATO penalties, interest, audit costs, or lost refunds arising from your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in this clause limits any liability that cannot be excluded under the ACL.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify TaxMate against any third-party claim arising from your misrepresentation, your breach of these Terms, or your unlawful use of the Service.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and cancel your subscription from your profile. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if continued use would expose us to material legal risk. We will not refund any portion of pre-paid fees on termination for breach. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including sections 10–12, 14 and 15) will survive.
14. Changes to the Service or Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email and/or in-product notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You and TaxMate submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria for any dispute arising under or in connection with these Terms.
